Experience emergency situations
Families may receive food once a week for 3 months; then their situation is reviewed. Clothing is free and available to clients on a weekly basis. School supplies, toys, household items, furniture and holiday items are also shared with families.
USDA Government Commodities
The Peace Pantry is a distribution agency for USDA Government commodities. To be eligible, everyone in the household must receive public assistance or meet the income guidelines. If you are eligible, you can receive this food once a month. The products vary from month to month but generally include canned and frozen food. For more information, call the Pantry at 636-285-0934.
Heaters and Fans
Donations of electric heaters are needed in the winter months and fans and air conditioners are needed for the summer months. The Pantry distributes these items free of charge to people needing them.
Durable Medical Equipment
The Peace Pantry accepts donations of durable medical equipment like wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs and crutches and then lends them to anyone in the community that needs them. We just ask that the equipment is returned when it is no longer needed.
Emergency Dental Fund
The emergency dental fund is a program designed to provide emergency care for people who are clients of the pantry and cannot otherwise afford dental care. The focus of the program is to relieve people of pain, provide antibiotics if necessary and perform simple procedures to manage the emergency.
Special packages of groceries for holiday meals are distributed each year at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Peace Pantry is assisted in this effort by the High Ridge Rotary which provides turkeys at Thanksgiving. Each year at Christmas, the Northwest Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce organizes a toy drive. The event coordinates local organizations, businesses and individuals to provide hundreds of toys for children in need. In the Peace Pantry's area of service toys are delivered by the employees and volunteers of the Cedar Hill Fire Protection District.
